Is it true that you can only find a IP address through email ?

So I am worried about my MySpace. I'm afraid a pedophile can just search for my IP and he has my address. So can they just get it through email ..? or can they get it from YouTube, MySpace, Yahoo Messenger, or anything like that ?
Tim says: The best way is visit myspace or the other major sites with a program called Hide My Ip. I use it to surf all the time so no one actually knows my real IP, this also means no one can figure out my home address. It works like a charm. Its best to be safe and protect yourself.
