You Can't Master IM Until You Become A Good Communicator
Internet marketing can be overwhelming, particularly when you are new and just starting to learn about the field. You’ve likely already browsed through several articles and forum posts that are full of information on how to be the next “big thing”. All of these lists are going to appear to oppose each other. One list will state that becoming successful in IM is all about being diligent. Having a high business aptitude is one other claim oftentimes made by these lists. Still, another will say that creative thinking is what will help you succeed. And, of course, you can’t forget about all of the people stating that all you have to do is buy their software package if you desire to be the next big name in IM!
The truth is that all of these things are important to your success (well, perhaps not all of those software packages, but the other stuff). You have to be diligent and smart about business and creative if you desire to get ahead. Naturally, if you are unable to distinctly communicate with purchasers and clients, none of the rest of it will actually matter.
Good communication involves more than simply creating a kick-ass sales page. You can find a highly skilled copywriter to create that for you. Good communication is more than having a beautiful website with a really long FAQ area. A skilled web site designer and writer can take care of those things. Good communication calls for being good with interpersonal communication and in straightforward copy too. So what is it that you need to do?
1. Reply to every e-mail you get within 24 hours. We aren’t joking with you. There is no need for you to write a lengthy response for each email. You can merely tell your correspondent that you’ve received and read his email and will be getting back to him soon. When you do this, try to include a reference to the original e-mail. This helps the person you email tell your mail apart from the automated replies that other Internet marketers utilize.
2. Answer your phone. Don’t screen your calls. When your telephone starts to ring, pick it up before it rings three times. Do this even if you earnestly have no desire to talk to the person on the other end. You might be happy to learn that there is one exemption to this specific rule. You don’t need to answer your telephone around the clock. Instead, just specify clear “business” hours during which you can answer phone calls. Publish these hours on your website and in your voice mail message also. And, lastly, always return your calls.
3. Check in with people to make certain that your messages and emails have really been received. This shows the individual that you value him or her. It will endear you further if you take some time to say something like, “Is there anything that I can be more detailed about?” so that, if they have inquiries, you can answer them.
